The Armed Forces of Nigeria have intensified operations across the South-South and South-East, recording major breakthroughs against oil thieves, separatist militants, and other criminal elements, while issuing a stern warning to protesting retired soldiers disrupting activities at the Federal Ministry of Finance.

Major General Markus Kangye, the Director Defence Media Operations disclosed this at a by-weekly briefing on the ongoing military operations across theater operations of the Armed Forces of Nigeria in Abuja on Thursday.

In the South-South, troops of Operation DELTA SAFE foiled oil theft valued at over ₦28.8 million, seizing 24,801 litres of stolen crude oil, 3,250 litres of illegally refined AGO and 850 litres of PMS.

Soldiers also destroyed 4 crude oil cooking ovens, 11 dugout pits, 7 boats, 5 storage tanks, and 8 illegal refining sites.

No fewer than 17 suspects were arrested, while arms, ammunition and explosives were recovered.

Between 30 August and 1 September 2025, troops further arrested five suspected criminals in Rivers and Delta States, recovering weapons, ammunition, a vehicle and ₦1.7 million cash.

In the South-East, Operation UDO KA forces maintained an aggressive posture in Anambra, Imo, and Abia States.

During patrols in Arochukwu, troops uncovered separatist banners and camps branded as “National Research and Production, Biafra Province Government, Bende Division and Biafra Military Depot.”

The camps were destroyed, while arms, IEDs, motorcycles, and military gear were seized.

Reaffirming its constitutional mandate, Defence Headquarters praised the courage and professionalism of troops nationwide, stressing that the fight against terrorism, oil theft, and separatism will be sustained until peace and stability are fully restored.
