Mrs. Ngozi Chinyelu, Clerk of the Senate Committee on Media and Publicity, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for upholding the democratic ideals championed by the late Chief MKO Abiola.

Speaking to newsmen on Thursday in Abuja during Democracy Day celebrations at the National Assembly, Mrs Chinyelu highlighted the significance of June 12, noting its symbolism in promoting national unity.

She reflected on the annulled 1993 election, widely regarded as Nigeria’s freest and fairest, where Abiola secured cross-ethnic and religious support due to his goodwill and generosity.

Mrs Chinyelu commended Tinubu’s youth-focused policies, such as the 3MTT digital skills program and fiber-optic expansion, which align with Abiola’s vision of opportunity and inclusion.

The Clerk also lauded Tinubu and the National Assembly for granting direct fiscal autonomy to local governments, enabling them to receive allocations and serve their communities directly.

Chinyelu urged Nigerians to remain patient, assuring them that the administration is committed to improving their lives.
