Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have intensified offensive operations across Nigeria’s North-East, neutralising scores of insurgents and recovering weapons and logistics in coordinated night assaults under Operation Desert Sanity V.
The renewed push, according to press statement signed by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer, signals sustained battlefield dominance as forces tighten the noose on Boko Haram and ISWAP elements operating within the theatre.
He underscores what Commanders describe as a transition from defensive containment to aggressive pursuit.
In Sector 2, troops working alongside the Civilian Joint Task Force launched a night operation around Muktum and Ngirbuwa villages, engaging insurgents in close combat.
Military sources confirmed that several terrorists were neutralised during the encounter. Recovered from the scene were two AK-47 rifles, three motorcycles and multiple mobile phones believed to have been used for operational coordination.
Further exploitation along the insurgents’ withdrawal route revealed drag marks and a freshly dug shallow grave indicators, according to field commanders, of additional enemy casualties sustained during the clash.
In a separate operation within Sector 1, troops patrolling the Bulayobe–Darel Jamel axis intercepted fleeing insurgents attempting to breach the Main Supply Route.
The terrorists reportedly scattered under sustained fire, abandoning two sacks containing assorted logistics supplies suspected to be destined for fighters deeper within the theatre.
Security analysts say cutting off logistics corridors remains central to degrading insurgent capacity, particularly as remnants attempt to regroup in remote enclaves.
While military authorities describe the broader security environment as relatively calm, they caution that the theatre remains unpredictable.
Troops, however, are said to be maintaining high morale and operational efficiency, continuing to dominate key areas of responsibility and disrupting terrorist mobility.
Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining relentless pressure until insurgent networks are dismantled and economic stability restored to the region.
For communities across the North-East, long scarred by over a decade of insurgency, the sustained tempo of operations under Desert Sanity V represents both a military escalation and a renewed promise that the campaign to reclaim territory and stabilise livelihoods is far from over.
