DHQ dismisses reports of French military base in Nigeria as totally false

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has denied online report alleging of a French military base being established in North East Nigeria.

According to Major General Edward Buba, the Director Defence Media Operations (DDMO) in a press statement, the attention of Defence Headquarters has been drawn to online reports of arrival of  the first  contingent of French soldiers in Maiduguri towards establishing a French Military base in North East Nigeria.

He affirmed the Armed Forces of Nigeria unequivocally that the information is fake, totally false and mischievous.

The DDMO recalled that the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa recently addressed this matter in different media forums. In which he debunked  the news and such  speculations.

Maj Gen Buba enjoined the general public to disregard the news and speculations still making rounds in some quarters, saying it is clear that these are the antics of mischief makers.

The military assured that it would continue to carry out its constitutional responsibilities, most  professionally and ensure the territorial integrity of the nation.
