The Nigerian Armed Forces have achieved significant successes in their counter-terrorism and anti-banditry operations across the country between April and June 2025.
According to Major General Markus Kangye, Director of Defence Media Operations (DDMO) during a quarterly press briefing on Thursday in Abuja the military eliminated several notorious terrorist leaders and their foot soldiers, including Amir Abu Fatimah, Kinging Auta, and Abdul Jamilu, among others.
He informed that the military neutralized several high-profile terrorist commanders, including Yellow Danbokkolo, who died from injuries sustained in a firefight with troops.
According to him, 1,191 suspects were arrested, including gunrunners and kidnappers, while 543 kidnapped victims were rescued.
The DDMO noted that 682 Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists and their families surrendered during the quarter, reflecting the pressure mounted by troops and their overwhelming firepower.
Maj Gen Kangye maintained that the Troops under Operation Delta Safe foiled crude oil thefts estimated at over N3.5 billion, recovering 2.38 million litres of stolen crude oil and other petroleum products.
Speaking on Military’s Stance on Amnesty, the DDMO affirmed that offering amnesty to terrorists is not within the military’s mandate, instead, the decision to grant amnesty would be made by relevant government agencies after studying the cases of surrendered terrorists.
Commenting on the detention of Okuama Community Leaders, Maj Gen Kangye ascertained that it had not received a court order regarding the detention of leaders of the Okuama community in Delta State, despite reports of its issuance.
