Diplomacy in Action: EU Envoy, Nigerian Security Leaders Unite for a Safer Future

The Maiden International Diplomatic and Security Conference, organized by the Diplomatic Correspondents’ Association of Nigeria (DICAN) in partnership with Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will take place on July 23rd, 2025, in Abuja.

According to the DICAN Publicity Sub-Committee in a press statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday, the conference will bring together diplomats, policymakers, security experts, and media professionals to discuss the intersection of diplomacy, security, and disinformation.

The conference theme is “Nigeria’s 4Ds Foreign Policy Strategy Amidst Global Security Challenges, Strategic Misperceptions, and the Age of Disinformation: The Role of Diplomacy, Intelligence, and Media in Shaping National and Global Stability.”

The European Union Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, H.E. Ambassador Gautier Mignot, will lead a panel of speakers, including the National Security Adviser, Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, and the Chief of Defence Staff.

The conference aimed to critically assess Nigeria’s 4Ds foreign policy framework (Democracy, Development, Diaspora, and Demography) and its application in addressing emerging threats and repositioning Nigeria on the global stage.

The conference will foster informed dialogue among stakeholders at the nexus of diplomacy, intelligence, and journalism.

The conference aimed to create robust policy recommendations for national and regional security advancement.

The event will provide a platform for collaboration among diplomats, policymakers, security experts, and media professionals to address pressing global issues.
