Nigeria’s Special Envoy and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs (MFA), Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, has led a delegation to Togo to formally invite President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé to the inaugural West Africa Economic Summit (WAES) 2025.

The meeting at the Presidential Palace in Lomé reinforced the longstanding ties between Nigeria and Togo, with discussions focusing on regional peace, prosperity, and integration.

President Gnassingbé welcomed the initiative, commending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for convening the summit.

He emphasized the need for West African leaders to intensify collaboration on trade, economic partnerships, security cooperation, youth empowerment, and sustainable development.

The WAES 2025 serves as a unifying platform for regional transformation, and the participation of leaders like President Gnassingbé is crucial to advancing a stronger, more integrated West Africa.

The summit is scheduled to take place in Abuja, Nigeria, from June 20-21, 2025.
