The government of Ebonyi State has revoked about 32 undeveloped plots of land on Onwe Road and its extension in Abakaliki the state capital.
Commissioner for lands and survey in the state Dr Mathew Nwaobashi announced this in Abakaliki on Thursday during a media briefing.
Dr Nwaobashi said the revocation takes effect from April 24th, 2024.
According to him, the undeveloped plots have become a home for criminals thus the reason for the revocation.
He warned that henceforth anyone who trespasses in the affected plots shall be prosecuted according to the law of the land.
“You recall that I addressed you early this month on the revocation of lands in CAMP David Estate, Ocho Udo centenary city, Abakaliki on some burning issues according to some people.
So It is in the continued determination of the present government to ride out criminals in their hideouts in undeveloped plots in government land that Ebonyi state government has therefore revoked again all undeveloped plots in Onwe road and its extension.
The details of the affected plots will be announced in our public service announcement.
However, the affected plots are 32 in number.
“ For the avoidance of doubt, this exercise is ongoing as it concerns undeveloped plots mentioned in November last year where we said people should try to develop the plots allocated to them in government layouts which we published in some national dailies and local tabloids.
it is on the strength of this that I want to inform you officially that with effect from today 25th day of April 2024 all undeveloped plots in the Onwe road layout and its extension are hereby revoked”.
“The reason for the revocation is that the people have refused to develop the land for over 10 years. It is more than 10 years old.
Those lands were given to them during Sam Egwu’s administration, Elechi ‘s administration is gone, David Umahi. it is over 16 years old. So we are going to give it to those who are ready to develop it and as we are giving our own, we are giving you the time to develop it if you fail we collect it from you”. He said
