Senator Neda Imasuen, representing Edo South Senatorial District in the 10th Senate has on Thursday called on the citizens of the State, especially the leadership of People Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to give way to Labour Party (LP) that has something to offer to the country at Edo governorship election slated for September 21st draws close.

This is even as the Lawmaker lamented that the PDP and APC who had ruled the state for the past years have only succeeded in leaving the people in untold hardship.

lmasuen who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petition in an exclusive interview with the National Assembly New Media Forum Abuja, said the two major political parties lack the means to confront the depth hardship in the Edo state and the country at large being instigated by the the two political parties.

According to the Lawmaker, there is no adequate healthcare, the schools are all breaking down, no enough teachers, the roads are nothing to write home about since fifteen years PDP and APC is ruling Nigeria.

He therefore maintained that the time has come for PDP and APC to give to collapse their structures for the Labour Party (LP).

“It will not be a surprise if LP wins the Edo State governorship elections because if you feel the pulse of the people today and you ask if they were better off 15 years ago than they are now, the resounding answer is they are not better off.

“We know how much a bag of rice costs today, beans and garri are not even affordable. In my state people are selling yams, not in tubers any more but in slices, that’s the depth of hardship in the state being instigated by these political parties.

“So to begin to perpetuate the government in power who seems not to have solutions to these problems, and we see ourselves going deep into this whole on a daily basis, then we must have something up our sleeves.

“I just believe that the two major political parties that have ruled us ever since must give way to a new party that has something to offer which is the Labour Party. Like the Labour Party in the United Kingdom, the Labour Party in Nigeria will also succeed.

Speaking on the impact made on his constituents since one year in the office, Senator Imasuen simply said he’s not satisfied, saying that the needs of the people is enormous.

“Most of my constituents are in the rural areas, and they are farmers. Today many of them, I mean over 70% of them can no longer go to the farm because of fear of banditry.

“I am not satisfied? But we are hoping that with legislation, and by the grace of God, the tide will turn around”, he stated.
