Engr. Bako Wakil of NCC Confers Follows of NSE

The Director, Technical Standard and Network Integrity of Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Engineer Bako Wakil has been conferred as Fellows of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) among the 54 follows.

Speaking to newsmen in an interview shortly after his conferment by the President of NSE, Engineer Adekunle Mokuolu at the 13th Fellowship Conferment Lecturer and Ceremony held in Abuja on Thursday, 12th December 2019 with the theme ‘Engineers in Politics: A Panacea for Acceleration Development, Engineer Wakil psaid he would used the added responsibility to bring in transparency and accountability in his professional assignments.

According to him, as an engineers and practitioners of engineering, they are in the forefront of making the country great particularly in the support of President Muhammadu Buhari’s next level agenda in making sure that they key into President Buhari’s aspiration.

He enjoined the younger engineers to work hard through consistency, to live above board.

“Engineer Wakil joined the services of NCC as Senior Manager in the then Engineering Department now renamed Spectrum Administration Department.

“He rose through the rank working as Project Management Emergency Communication project and the Head if IT projects in the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF).

“Engr. Wakil has served in several committees within and outside the NCC such as Satellite Regulation Committee, Broadband Implementation and Monitoring Committee, Spectrum Management and Monitoring System among others. He also served as Special Assistant (SA) Technical to the Minister of Information and Communication from 2007-2009.

“AT the International level, Engr. Wakil has attended several ITU events such as World Radio Communications Conference (WRC), World Telecommunications Standardization Assembly (WTSA) and several ITU Study Groups meetings and is currently servicing as Vice Chairman of ITU Study Group 20 (SD20) on Internet of Things (IoT) and Smart Cities and Communities as well as the Chairman of Regional Group for Africa of ITU-T SG20.

“Engr. Wakil has served NSE in various capacities including founding members of Space Engineering Division and Ex-officio member of NSE Abuja branch as well as Examiner in the Abuja branch. He was also pioneer Managing Director of Abuja Engineers Ltd, a company incorporated by the Abuja branch of NSE” he said.
