The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has urged Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) to promptly submit their applications for accreditation as observers ahead of the Anambra State Governorship Election scheduled for November 8, 2025.
The INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu who made the appeal during a Quarterly Consultative meeting with CSOs in Abuja on Wednesday, emphasized the importance of early application to ensure smooth processing and timely delivery of accreditation tags.
He affirmed that Civil Society organisations play a critical role in promoting transparency, accountability, and credibility in the electoral process.
According to him, their participation is essential in ensuring a credible and transparent Anambra governorship election.
The INEC Chairman assured CSOs that the Commission remains open and transparent in its dealings and will provide timely updates on electoral activities.
He also urged them to monitor the Anambra election, Area Council elections, and the resumption of Continuous Voter Registration (CVR).
“I wish to appeal to you to promptly upload your applications for accreditation of observers… so that we can process and deliver your accreditation tags well ahead of the election” he noted.
Prof Yakubu re-ecoed that INEC has received letters of intent from 110 associations seeking recognition as political parties.
He maintained that the Commission is committed to working within the law and treating all stakeholders fairly.
