The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced a strategic partnership with the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) and the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) to address the issue of prohibitive costs and discriminatory access to public campaign advertising spaces ahead of the Anambra State Governorship election.
The INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu in his address at the Second Regular Consultative Meeting with Political Parties on Thursday in Abuja emphasized the commission’s commitment to transparent electoral processes and its determination to prevent acts that undermine democratic competition.
He urged political parties to familiarize themselves with INEC’s guidelines for meetings, rallies, and processions.
According to him, INEC would ensure all political parties have equal access to public facilities, such as state-owned media, public buildings, and open spaces.
The Commission decried the use of incumbency powers to restrict access to public facilities and promote fair competition.

He reminded that Anambra Governorship Election is Scheduled for November 8, 2025, with 16 candidates and their running mates already published by INEC.
Prof Yakubu affirmed that the Commission has fixed a bye-election on August 16, 2025, in 16 constituencies across 12 states, involving a total of 3,553,659 registered voters.
According to him, Continuous Voter Registration has resumed in Anambra State from July 8 to 17, 2025, and nationwide from August 18, 2025
In his remark, the IPAC Chairman, Dr. Yusuf Dantalle, urged INEC to conduct free, fair, credible, transparent, and inclusive elections, leveraging new AI technologies to enhance electoral credibility and integrity.
