The Federal Government has declared Friday, September 5, 2025, a public holiday to mark Eid-ul-Mawlid, the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who announced the holiday on behalf of the government, congratulated the Muslim Ummah in Nigeria and beyond, urging them to emulate the Prophet’s virtues of peace, humility, tolerance, love, and compassion.
He appealed to Nigerians of all faiths to seize the opportunity to pray for national peace, security, and stability, stressing that unity and mutual respect are vital to building a prosperous and progressive nation.
“The celebration of Eid-ul-Mawlid offers us yet another opportunity to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood, promote peaceful coexistence, and imbibe the Prophet’s teachings of mutual respect and selfless service to humanity,” Tunji-Ojo said.
The Minister charged citizens to remain law-abiding, security-conscious, and supportive of government policies geared toward collective well-being, while wishing Muslims a joyous and peaceful Eid-ul-Mawlid.
