FIWON Chairman expresses dismay over lack of utilization of Contributory Scheme by members

The Federation of lnformal Works Organization of Nigeria (FLWON) Kaduna State Chapter in collaboration with Kaduna State Contributory Health Scheme has organized one day sensitization on the importance of enrolling it’s menmbers into the scheme.

The Chairman of FIWON North-West, Comrade Kabri lbrahim during his welcome address at a one day interactive forum with the Theme: ” The Contributory Health Scheme Work for Informal Workers” in Kaduna on Thursday expressed dismay that ninety percent of FlWON members are not aware of the scheme and those who are aware are not utilizating the scheme appropriately.

He laminated that some of their members had died of illness due to lack of funds while some stick to harbal drugs because they can not access good hospital.

According to him, in view of this challenge, the sensitization became imperative to create awareness and carry it’s members along.

Comrade Kabir noted that with the scheme which is spread to six months, with ten thousand eight hundred naira, it’s members would be able to enroll and have access to adquate medical attention whenever ever they are ill and encouraged the Informal sector to key into the State contributory health scheme.

His speech, the Director General of the Scheme, Alhaji Ailyu Sadiu said the mission is to make sure that every resident in Kaduna State has access to good medical care.

He said the payment is two categories, fifty seven thousand naira for family of four and ten thousand eight hundred and fifty for individual registration.

According to him, health insurance scheme only stop at federal level there by leaving States to cater for their residents but with the contributory health scheme in Kaduna State all residents who enroll into the scheme is entitled to good medical care be it private or government hospital.

Alhaji Ailyu encouraged every resident to key into the scheme as is not for indigens alone but for all who leave, trade and work in Kaduna.

“Kaduna State is the first state in Nigeria to create health contributory scheme.

“Kaduna State has the mandate of providing accessible and qualitative health Care services to all residents of the state at an affordable cost without hardship” he said.
