As part of civil- military activities of the Nigerian Army and to compliments Government efforts in eradicating communicable and non-communicable disease in its Area of Responsibility (AOR), the Military Hospital, Sokoto State has embarked on a free medical outreach for residents in Wurno Local Government Area to concluded Nigerian Army Day Celebration-NADCEL 2018.
Speaking at the flag-off of the outreach, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Stevenson Olabanji affirmed that over 1,830 persons will benefited from polio vaccination, free insecticide mosquito nets, health check up and treatment.
Major General Stevenson Olabanji who made this known in a press statement through the Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Major Clement Abiade and made available to newsmen in Kaduna therefore urged the beneficiaries to take advantage of the free medical outreach and improve on their health.
“The exercise is part of the civil- military activities of the Nigerian Army to ensure that the people received medical attention and be in good health.
“The exercise will witness a pool of about 1,830 persons that will benefit from polio vaccination, free distribution of insecticide mosquito nets, health check up and treatment” he said.
Earlier, the Commander, Military Hospital Sokoto, Lieutenant Colonel Igwe Ibila Amara expressed satisfaction over the large turnout, saying this is a testimony of confidence the people still has in the Nigerian Army as Institution.
In his remark, the Village Head, Sarkin Sudan Mallam Shehu Mohammed who spoke on behalf of his people commended the Nigerian Army for the kind gesture as well as their sacrifices in ensuring peace in the country.
According to him, the gesture will go a long way in improving their standard of living.
The GOC was accompanied by Brigadier-General Kennedy Udeagbala, Commander 1 Brigade and was witnessed by Major Ibrahim Audu, Acting Commanding officer 26 Battalion, Sokoto and other staff officers at Headquarters 8 Division Sokoto.
