The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has set the tone for 2026, declaring the year one of renewed commitment, professionalism, and improved service delivery, as the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, mni, addressed officers and marshals during the first parade of the year.

In a rousing address, Mohammed reaffirmed that discipline, unity, professionalism, and commitment to service remain the bedrock of the Corps’ identity.

He warned that any decline in civility, discipline, or public service conduct would no longer be tolerated, noting that every FRSC officer on patrol represents the organization’s image and remains under constant public scrutiny.

Highlighting the role of patrol officers, the Corps Marshal described them as frontline ambassadors of the Corps, charged with upholding the values of transparency, fairness, timeliness, and service orientation.

“Every interaction with the motoring public reflects on the integrity of the Corps,” he said, urging officers to remain courteous, vigilant, and guided by FRSC core principles.

Strategic goals for a landmark year
Mohammed disclosed that the 2026 Corporate Strategic Goals of the Corps have been approved, calling on all formations nationwide to align their operations with these goals through actionable plans, performance-driven job binders, and clear strategic initiatives.

He outlined a priority focus on smarter operations for better service delivery, faster response to accidents and emergencies, improved supervision and public engagement, and zero tolerance for corruption or misconduct.

Addressing ongoing security challenges such as kidnapping, robbery, and banditry, the Corps Marshal emphasized prevention over reaction, urging all personnel to remain vigilant on and off duty.

He also highlighted staff welfare as critical to effective service delivery, encouraging officers to monitor their health, access available health plans, and maintain physical and mental readiness.

The Corps announced a suite of welfare interventions for 2026, including: Continuous capacity building and training

Promotion exercises strictly guided by merit

Expanded approval for further studies

Renovation of field command accommodations

Timely payment of salaries and allowances

Improved deployment practices

Enhanced access to medical care

Strengthened cooperative schemes
Prompt settlement of insurance claims

Zero tolerance for misconduct

Mohammed issued a stern warning against extortion, abuse of authority, incivility to the public, and any acts capable of tarnishing the Corps’ image, calling on commanding officers to mentor subordinates, supervise effectively, and lead by example.

Confidence in a transformative year
In conclusion, the Corps Marshal urged all officers and marshals to remain hopeful, focused, and innovative, expressing confidence that 2026 would be a landmark year for the Federal Road Safety Corps and its personnel.

“The year 2026 is a year of renewed commitment, professionalism, and service delivery.

It is our time to demonstrate that FRSC is not just a regulatory body, but a discipline-driven, service-oriented institution dedicated to saving lives on Nigerian roads,” Mohammed said.
