Gambia’s President Hails Nigeria’s Role in Gambia’s Education Sector

The President of The Gambia, Adama Barrow, has expressed gratitude to the Nigerian government for its significant contributions to the advancement of education in his country.

Speaking at the 17th Convocation Ceremony of the University of The Gambia, President Barrow praised the impact of Nigerian professors deployed as volunteers through the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC).

The President noted that these volunteers have transformed the education sector in The Gambia, demonstrating Nigeria’s commitment to sharing its expertise and resources with other countries.

The Director-General of NTAC, Rt. Hon. Yusuf Buba Yakub, also spoke at the event, expressing delight that the corps’ efforts were being recognized and appreciated.

Yakub thanked President Bola Tinubu for his 4-D Foreign Policy Initiative, which has enabled Nigeria to remain visible globally through its technical assistance programs.

He emphasized the importance of Nigeria’s partnership with The Gambia, highlighting the corps’ ongoing collaboration with the university and other institutions in the country.

The NTAC DG reaffirmed the corps’ commitment to continuing its support and partnership with The Gambia.
