…Gov Uzodima assures outcome will be acceptable to people of the state

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje on Thursday Inaugurated Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, Chairman of Edo State Gubernatorial Primary Election Committee holding on Saturday 17th February 2024, with 12 aspirants to bring up a candidate that will be easily sellable to the electorate.
Speaking to the Committee members during the Inuguration Ganduje explained that it is the party tradition and culture to appoint members to undertake any assignment for the party development.
The Chairman advised the Committee to know that whatever they decides to do, the contestant has the right to appeal.
”It is being a tradition and a culture and in particular in our party, we always constitute a body that will undertake any assignment so that at the end of it, we will get a good result with due process and transparency. Whatever you do, the contestant is free to appeal. We can say, it is the supreme court of this exercise” he said.
Responding on behalf of the Committee, Governor Uzodinma assured that the outcome of the primary will be one that is acceptable to the people of the state and at the national level.
He promised to work in harmony with the local leadership of the party in Edo State to bring up a product that will be easily sellable to the electorate, affirming that they would be diligent and do what will be acceptable to all members of the party.
He explained that there is no doubt, the task placed under them is a reflection of their experiences and trust which has largely informed their appointment hence the need to ensure fairness for all.
“Our party is a very fantastic brand; our party is a very populous party; our party is a good product”.
“It behooves us as members of this committee to work in harmony with the local leadership of the party in Edo State to bring up a product that will look like our party and be easily sellable to the electorate. And by the grace of God, it is our hope that the product of our exercise will be a candidate that will win the election.
” We will be very diligent. And we will do what will be acceptable to the entire members of our party from Edo State and even at the national level” Hope said.
Earlier, the National Organizing Secretary of the party, Suleiman Arugungu observed that the party is becoming a model of internal democracy and the committee has an onerous task of conducting a credible process.
“As a party, we have become a model of internal democracy and all we do must be done in such a manner so that all aspirants are aware of the transparent and inclusive manner of emergence of candidates
“Let me on behalf of the national working committee say that we want you to hold yourself to the highest level of integrity in the task assigned to you. All twelve aspirants who purchased the forms have been cleared to partake in the exercise” he noted.
Other members of the Committee include, Cross River State governor, Bassey Otu, Mrs Titilayo Laoye-Tomori, Nentanwe Yilwatde Goshwe, Hon. Umar Musa, Lawan Garba and Rabiu Suleiman (secretary) while the election Appeal Committee is being chaired by Barr. C.C Udenwa, with the following members: Muhammad Zakaria Sarina, Udogu Anthony Chijoke, Muhammad Garin Ali and Yunusa Mohammed.
