Global Glory: Speaker Abbas Praises Young Nigerian Girls for English, Debate Wins in London

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, Ph.D., GCON, has applauded three Nigerian teenagers for their outstanding performance at the 2025 Teen-Eagle Global English Language Competition held in London, United Kingdom.

According to Musa Abdullahi Krishi, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Speaker, House of Representatives in a press statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday, Nafisa Abdullahi Aminu (17), Rukayya Muhammad Fema (15), and Hadiza Kashim Kalli emerged as global champions in the prestigious contest, clinching top honours in English language communication and debate.

Nafisa was crowned the Overall Best in English Language Skills, Rukayya won the Overall Best in Debate, while Hadiza received the Outstanding Talent Award with a gold medal.

Speaker Abbas hailed the trio as “super talents,” stating that their achievements have not only brought pride to Nigeria but also reaffirmed the enormous potential of young Nigerians when given the right opportunities.

“These brilliant young ladies have made the entire nation proud. Their excellence shows that with the right environment and support, Nigerians will continue to break global barriers and shine on the world stage,” the Speaker said.

He linked their triumph to a growing wave of Nigerian excellence, referencing recent major wins such as the D’Tigress’ victory at the 2025 FIBA Afrobasket and the Super Falcons lifting the WAFCON title.

“These achievements reinforce my strong belief in the girl child and the importance of gender inclusion across all sectors, especially in politics and governance,” he added.

Reiterating his commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s education system, Speaker Abbas emphasized the vital role of quality basic education in preparing children for excellence.

He also called for institutional recognition and reward for young academic achievers, stressing that celebrating such success stories inspires national pride and motivates others.

“We must honour our intellectual ambassadors the same way we do sports heroes. Academic excellence deserves national celebration and recognition,” he said.

The Speaker extended warm congratulations to Nafisa, Rukayya, and Hadiza, describing their success as a beacon of hope for the country’s future.
