Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has dismissed the influence of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing it as a weakened offshoot of another political party, while reaffirming the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) focus on governance and delivering results to Nigerians.
Speaking to journalists in Abuja on Saturday after attending the birthday celebration of APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, at the party’s National Secretariat, Sule said the ruling party remains united and unshaken.
“From what I was told, ADC is a split, not from our party, but from another party. If it is a split, they are only getting weaker,” Sule stated. “As far as we are concerned, we are not worried about that. We have never been worried about the opposition. Our priority is to strengthen our party and give back to the good people of Nigeria.”
The Governor said this focus mirrors President Bola Tinubu’s governance style, adding that APC governors across the country are working to consolidate the administration’s agenda in their states.
“Personally, I don’t pay attention to what other parties are doing because I am more concerned about what my party is doing,” he added.
Sule also threw his weight behind the APC National Chairman, describing him as a “Renewed Hope Agenda chairman” whose leadership is already fostering reforms and unity across the party.
“He was warmly received in the North Central zone and is strengthening the APC nationwide,” he said.
Turning to agriculture, Sule revealed that the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyar recently visited Nasarawa and praised the state’s rapid progress in food production.
The Governor said the State had acquired 10,000 hectares of land for direct agricultural investment, cultivating 2,000 hectares of rice last year and clearing an additional 1,300 hectares this year.
“The Minister came to see our progress firsthand and expressed appreciation for our commitment to the national food security drive,” Sule noted.
The governor’s remarks come as the APC seeks to tighten its grip ahead of future elections, with political observers noting that the party is pairing governance achievements with strategic party consolidation to maintain dominance.
