The Chairperson of Womanhood Foundation of Nigeria, Hajiya Maryam Abubakar has identified hand washing and sanitization as a key process of preventive strategy against various infections and diseases, saying water is an effective sanitizer.
Hajiya Maryam who made this known in a press statement in Kaduna on Saturday and was made available to newsmen also informed that washing of hands when it is dirty will reduce or completely destroy micro-organisms that cause diseases.
“It is often said that prevention is better than cure, indeed washing of our hands when it is dirty will reduce or completely destroy micro-organisms that causes diseases” she said.
According to her, in his regard, the Womenhood Foundation deem it fit to create awareness in the society by calling on Nigerians to adhere to the simple method of hand washing with water, detergent or soap to build and create a healthy life or environment.
The Chairperson therefore enjoined all and sundry to adopt hand washing even if it is only with the use of water as it has been proven beyond reason doubt that water is an effective sanitizer frontal to any infection.
“Specifically, we call on parents to start teaching their children the importance of washing their hands, before and after meals, after using the toilets, playground, after school hours and so on.
