The Federal Government of Nigeria has taken a significant step towards strengthening tertiary healthcare delivery in the North Central region with the commissioning of a state-of-the-art Multi-Specialty Complex and other critical healthcare infrastructure at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Keffi.

led by the Honourable Minister of State for Health, and Social Welfare Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako, and the Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe (representing the Executive Governor) on Thursday houses Ophthalmology, Ear Nose and Throat (ENT), Dental, and Physiotherapeutic services, aimed at addressing the increasing demand for specialist care in Keffi and its environs.
Dr. Salako informed that the facility is equipped with a solar-powered borehole and a high-tech atmospheric distilled water generator donated by the Government of Japan, promoting sustainability in healthcare delivery.
The Minister noted that the hospital’s ongoing energy transition efforts were commended, and a National Stakeholders Dialogue on Power in the Health Sector will be held to tackle energy poverty in healthcare delivery.
Dr. Salako reaffirmed the Federal Government commitment to improving population health outcomes and expanding access to specialist services nationwide.
In his address, the Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe affirmed that the commissioning of the Multi-Specialty Complex marks a major milestone in the implementation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for the health sector.
He maintained that the FMC Keffi serves as a frontline referral center for over 13 states, and the new infrastructure will help address the strain on its facilities.
The Deputy Governor mentioned that the latest interventions signal a crucial step in transforming FMC Keffi into a top-tier tertiary referral hub and reaffirming the government’s promise to achieve Universal Health Coverage for all Nigerians.
