Hon. Muktar Tolani Shagaya, representing Ilorin West/Asa Federal Constituency of Kwara State, has dismissed concerns that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is working towards establishing a one-party state in Nigeria.
Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the 2025 Democracy Day celebration at the National Assembly, Hon. Shagaya commended the President’s policies and leadership style.
He noted that the President’s decision to address the joint session of the legislature to give his scorecard demonstrates his commitment to democratic ideals and the protection of Nigeria’s hard-won freedom.
Regarding the recent wave of defections from opposition parties, Hon. Shagaya attributed the decisions to individuals’ voluntary choices, stating that people are free to join the progressive team.
The lawmaker acknowledged the progress made in social and economic development, explaining that some policies may not yield immediate benefits but will ultimately benefit the masses in the long run.
He commended President Tinubu for his achievements in the past two years and wished him continued success as he leads the country towards its desired destination.
