The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has unveiled the locations of 811 designated centres across the country for the resumption of its year-long Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, which kicks off on August 18, 2025.

The announcement was made in a statement issued by the National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, following INEC’s weekly meeting held on Thursday in Abuja.

According to the Commission, online pre-registration will begin on Monday, August 18, while physical (in-person) registration at the designated centres will commence a week later on Monday, August 25.

Both processes will run concurrently until August 30, 2026, offering Nigerians ample opportunity to register, update, or transfer their voter information.

The exercise will take place in all 774 Local Government Areas and 37 INEC State/FCT offices, operating from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays.

To ease access, INEC will launch a CVR Live Locator tool on August 17, 2025, available at https://cvr.inecnigeria.org/locator, allowing Nigerians to find their nearest registration centres effortlessly.

Additionally, INEC has published a 38-page document listing the addresses of all the 811 centres on its website, alongside dedicated telephone help lines for each state to assist citizens needing clarification.

The Commission emphasized that the procedures for registration remain the same as those used in the 2022 exercise.

Updated guidelines and instructional videos will be released next week.

In a related development, INEC disclosed that it has received eight new letters of intent from groups aspiring to register as political parties, bringing the total number of applications to 151.

The details, including proposed names, acronyms, logos, contact addresses, and interim leadership structures have been uploaded to the Commission’s website for public viewing.

Olumekun also confirmed that the Commission has initiated the shortlisting of applicants that meet the legal and procedural requirements to proceed to the next stage of registration.

He said a formal update will be released following the 16 bye-elections scheduled to hold across 12 states on Saturday, August 16, 2025.

INEC reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and public engagement in all electoral processes, encouraging Nigerians to stay informed and participate actively.
