The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has presented Certificates of Return to winners of the National Assembly bye-elections conducted across the country on August 16, 2025.
The presentation ceremony took place on Thursday, August 21, at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja, where National Commissioners handed over certificates to the seven newly elected lawmakers.
Among the recipients was Mr. Nwachukwu Emmanuel Chibuzor of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), who won the Anambra South Senatorial District seat.
His certificate was presented by Mr. Kenneth Ukeagu, National Commissioner supervising the South East.
Professor Rhoda Gumus, another National Commissioner, presented certificates to two All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates from Edo State—Ikpea Joseph Igiagbe, Senator-elect for Edo Central, and Igbinedion Omosede Gabriella, elected to the House of Representatives for Ovia Southwest Federal Constituency.
Professor Abdullahi Zuru, National Commissioner for the North West, presented a certificate to Mukhtar Rabiu Garki of the APC, winner of the Bubura/Garki Federal Constituency in Jigawa State.
In Kaduna, Joseph Bagudu, elected on the APC platform to represent Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency, received his certificate from Mal. Kudu Haruna.
Meanwhile, Professor Kunle Ajayi, National Commissioner supervising the South West, presented certificates to two APC lawmakers-elect from Ogun and Oyo States—Elegbeji Adesola Yetunde Ayoola (Ikene/Shagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency) and Oyekunle Fola Sunday (Ibadan North Federal Constituency).
INEC added that winners of the State Constituency bye-elections will receive their Certificates of Return from the Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) in their respective states on Friday, August 22, 2025.
