The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the outcome of the 16 bye-elections and two court-ordered re-run elections conducted across the country on Saturday, 16th August 2025.

According to the Commission, declarations and returns have been made in all contests except in the Kaura Namoda South State Constituency of Zamfara State.

The bye-elections were conducted in two Senatorial Districts, five Federal Constituencies, and nine State Assembly Constituencies.

Results have been successfully declared in two Senatorial Districts, five Federal Constituencies, and eight State Assembly Constituencies.

INEC noted that despite security challenges in Zamfara, voting was held in Kaura Namoda South.

However, the Returning Officer was unable to declare a winner due to incidents of violence and emergency in five polling units across two wards.

The affected polling units have 3,572 registered voters, of which 3,265 collected their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

With the margin of lead standing at 1,662 votes, INEC explained that in line with Section 24 (3) and (4) of the Electoral Act 2022, fresh elections must be conducted in the affected polling units before a final declaration can be made.

The Commission has therefore fixed Thursday, 21st August 2025 for the supplementary election in the affected polling units.
