The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the successful conclusion of two re-run elections ordered by the Election Petition Appeal Tribunals in Enugu and Kano States.
Sam Olumekun, the National Commissioner and Chairman Information & Voter Education Committee in a press statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday, informed that the elections, which had previously been disrupted by violence and thuggery, were peacefully concluded with winners duly declared.
In Enugu South 1 State Constituency, Ngene Bright Emeka of the Labour Party (LP) emerged victorious, while Ya’u Garba Gwarmai of the All Progressives Congress (APC) won the re-run in Ghari/Tsanyawa State Constituency of Kano State.
In line with Section 72(1) of the Electoral Act 2022, INEC will present Certificates of Return to Senators-elect for Anambra South and Edo Central Senatorial Districts, as well as five members of the House of Representatives-elect from constituencies in Edo, Jigawa, Kaduna, Ogun, and Oyo States.
The ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, 21st August 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at the INEC National Headquarters, Abuja.
For State Houses of Assembly, Certificates of Return will be issued to members-elect by the Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) in the respective state offices on Friday, 22nd August 2025 at 11:00 a.m.
Beneficiaries include winners from constituencies in Adamawa, Anambra, Kaduna, Kano, Kogi, Niger, and Taraba States.
INEC assured the public that it will continue to provide timely updates on all activities of the Commission.
