Insecurity: Senate will make intelligence gathering critical priority – Danbaba assures Nigerians

Chairman, Senate Committee on National Security and Intelligence (NSl), Senator Ibrahim Danbaba has described intelligence gathering as a critical priority to adopt in the fight against pervasive insecurity in Nigeria.

Danbaba made this known in an interview shortly after emerging from closed doors meeting of NSI budget defence session on Thursday in Abuja with the National Security Adviser, Mohammed Babagana Monguno and Heads of other Intelligence Agencies.

You see, you cannot gather intelligence without fiance, that is what the committee is putting emphasis on,the provision that has been made in 2023 budget is noting to ride home about.

“This Committee is ready to lobby to ensure that adequate provision is made at last to NSI to be able to perform efficiently. Of course you know, financial resources are scarce everywhere in the world, so government will make intelligence cardinal priority and the Senate would see to that” he informed

Earlier, the Lawmaker, representing Sokoto South Senatorial District Federal Constituency, expressed shock at the poor representing Katsina Central, Senator Kabir Barkiya lamented the perceived inter agency rivalry among security operatives.

He affirmed that the legislature is ready to amend the Act establishing the various intelligence agencies to not only share intelligence but to act in securing the nation.
