Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, Ph.D., GCON, has urged Federal, State, and Local Governments to increase investment in young Nigerians, describing them as the nation’s greatest asset and the key to a prosperous future.

In a statement marking International Youth Day 2025 made available to newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday by Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Speaker Musa Abdullahi Krishi, Speaker Abbas noted that youth make up the majority of Nigeria’s population and must be at the center of policies and programmes that promote education, skill acquisition, and economic empowerment.

“Access to quality and affordable education, coupled with targeted skill development, is not just a social responsibility but an investment in Nigeria’s future,” Abbas said.

He called on both public and private sector stakeholders to intensify efforts in talent discovery, entrepreneurship promotion, and sports development—initiatives he believes will steer young people away from crime and other social vices.

The Speaker also appealed to religious and cultural leaders to continue guiding young Nigerians toward discipline, hard work, and moral uprightness, while encouraging youth to remain patriotic and law-abiding.

“By nurturing the potential of our young people, we can lay the foundation for a more secure, united, and prosperous Nigeria,” he added.

Speaker Abbas concluded by wishing young Nigerians a happy and impactful International Youth Day celebration.
