Sekyen Dadik, the Executive Director Africa Media Development Foundation (AMDF) on Saturday called on all stakeholders to join forces in accelerating action towards a just and equitable society.

This is even as she charged stakeholders at all levels to prioritize gender-transformative policies and initiatives that address the specific needs and rights of women and girls.

AMDF ED made the call in a press statement made available to newsmen in Abuja as it joined other global world in celebrating the 2025 International Women’s Day with the theme “Accelerate Action”.

She also called for a collective effort to dismantle systemic barriers and ensure that women have equal opportunities to thrive in all aspect of life.

She maintained that this year’s theme highlighted the pressing need for urgent transformative actions that empower women, break down barriers, and strengthen systems for a more equitable and just world.

According to her, the theme “Accelerate Action” resonates deeply with AMDF’s mission to improve livelihood through inclusion and gender equality.

“We recognize that in Nigeria, as in many parts of the world, women continue to face multifaceted challenges ranging from gender-based violence to discriminatory norms and practices in the workplace and beyond.

“The 2025 Women’s Day serves as a reminder of the unfinished work towards achieving gender parity and justice for all.

“The call to “Accelerate Progress” is a call to action for policymakers, advocates, and community leaders to redouble their efforts in advancing gender equality, emphasizing the urgency to address these persistent inequalities.

“Together, we can build a future where every woman and girl has the opportunity to thrive, contribute meaningfully to society, and live free from discrimination and violence.

“In recent times, women have faced significant challenges from contemporary issues that limit their access to education, healthcare, employment opportunities, and justice, not only in Africa but also across the globe.

“Over the years, AMDF has demonstrated commitment to advancing women’s rights through its advocacy efforts, partnerships, and collaborations with various stakeholders.

“These initiatives have yielded tangible outcomes in the form of improved policies, impactful programmes, and increased commitment from both State and non-state actors towards the betterment of all women and girls” she said.
