The Director, Defence Media Operations (DDMO), Major General Edward Buba has on Thursday Informed that the Joint Task Force (JTF) troops offensives have severely depleted ISWAP terrorist rank and file across Theater operations in Nigeria.
This was made available to newsmen at a Bi-weekly press conference in Abuja on the ongoing Military Operations by Armed Forces as at 14 November 2024.
“Troops of Operation HADIN KAI recorded the following activities during the period under review; surrendering of BH/ISWAP/JAS terrorists combatants and families, arrested of terrorists/collaborators, as well as the conduct different offensive operations in Konduga, Bama, Gwoza, Damboa, Mobbar, Dikwa, MMC and Ngala LGAs of Borno State.
“Additionally troops conducted similar operations in Gujba and Damaturu LGAs of Yobe State.
“Details as comprising 12 adult females and 19 children surrendered to troops within the theatre of operations.
b. Offensive Operations.
(1) On 4 November 2024, troops in separate offensive operations made contact with BH/ISWAP terrorists in Dikwa and Ngala LGAs of Borno State. Following a fire fight, troops neutralized 8 terrorists and recovered 5 AK47 rifles, 3 fabricated rifles, 146 rounds of 7.62mm PKM ammo, 110 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 3 magazines and 4 motorcycles amongst others.
(2) Between 7 and 11 November 2024, troops in separate offensive operations made contact with BH/ISWAP terrorists in Konduga, Dikwa and Ngala LGAs of Borno State as well as Gujba LGA of Yobe State respectively.
“Following a fire fight, troops neutralized 9 terrorists and recovered 6 AK47 rifles, 2 fabricated rifles, 3 dane guns, 178 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 91 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 4 magazines, 2 motorcycles and one mobile phone amongst others.
c. Arrest of ISWAP/JAS Terrorist’s Collaborator. Between 9 and 12 November 2024, following credible reports, troops in separate operations intercepted and arrested 25 BH/ISWAP terrorists collaborators and kidnappers in MMC, Monguno, Ngala, Monguno, Damboa and Mobbar LGAs of Borno State as well as Bade and Damaturu LGAs of Yobe State respectively. During the operations, troops recovered 3 AK47 rifles, one pump action gun, 321 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 3 motorcycles, 4 mobile phones and the sum of ₦1,851,000.00 only amongst others.
Air Interdiction. The air component of Operation HADIN KAI on 7 November 2024, conducted air interdiction on mass movement of ISWAP/JAS terrorists fighters from Lake Chad Basin to the hinterland of southern Tumbuns. Battle Damage Assessment revealed that several terrorists were eliminated and their logistics destroyed.
SUMMARY
Overall, troops of Operation HADIN KAI neutralized 40 terrorists, arrested 50 suspects and rescued 27 kidnappers hostages. Troops also recovered 24 AK47 rifles, 5 fabricated rifles, 3 dane gun, one pump action gun, 609 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 91 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 146 rounds of 7.62mm PKM ammo, 7 magazines, 9 motorcycles, 5 mobile phones amongst other items.
JOINT TASK FORCE OPERATION SAFE HAVEN (NORTH CENTRAL)
Troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN recorded the following during the period under review; responded and arrest of violent extremists/kidnappers and conducted offensive operations in Riyom, Barkin Ladi, Mangu and Bokkos, Bassa, Kanam, Wase, Jos South and East LGAs of Plateau State as well as Sanga and Zango Kataf LGAs of Kaduna State.
Details are as follows:
a. Violent Extremists/kidnappers Activities.
(1) Between 4 and 6 November 2024, troops in separate operations responded to information on activities of violent extremists/kidnappers in Sanga and Zango Kataf LGAs of Kaduna State. During the operations, troops rescued 5 kidnapped hostages and recovered one magnum pump action gun, one fabricated rifle, 43 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo and one magazine.
(2) On 7 and 9 November 2024, troops in separate operations responded to information on activities of violent extremists and made contact in Kanam, Mangu and Barkin Ladi LGAs of Plateau State. Following a fire fight, troops neutralized 2 terrorists, arrested 3 and rescued 4 kidnapped hostages.
Arrest Operations.
(1) Between 4 and 6 November 2024, following credible reports, troops in separate operations intercepted and arrested 8 violent extremists including a notorious kidnapper in Jos South and Barkin Ladi LGAs of Plateau State as well as Sanga LGA of Kaduna State respectively. During the operations, troops recovered 2 fabricated rifles, one locally made pistol, 34 rounds of 7.62mm NATO and 5 cartridges amongst others.
(2) Between 6 and 10 November 2024, troops in separate operations arrested 12 violent extremists including kidnappers in Barkin Ladi, Jos East, Bokkos and Bassa LGAs of Plateau State. During the operations, troops recovered 3 fabricated rifles, one locally made revolver pistol, 24 live cartridges, 7 rounds of 9mm ammo, 2 motorcycles and 5 mobile phones amongst others.
c. Offensive Operations. On 11 November 2024, troops in separate offensive operations made contact with violent extremists in Bokkos and Jema’a LGAs of Plateau and Kaduna States respectively.
Following a fire fight, troops neutralized 2 terrorists and arrested 4 violent extremists. Troops also recovered 2 fabricated rifles and 72 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo.
SUMMARY
7. Overall, troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN neutralized 9 violent extremists, arrested 41 persons and rescued 27 kidnapped hostages. Troops also recovered one magnum pump action gun, 7 fabricated rifles, one locally made pistols, one locally made revolver pistol, 115 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 34 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammo, 7 rounds of 9mm ammo, 29 live cartridges, one magazine, 2 motorcycles and 5 mobile phones amongst other items.
OPERATION WHIRL STROKE (NORTH CENTRAL)
8Troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE recorded the following during the week under review; troops offensive operations such as counter/anti kidnapping operations in Ibbi, Pupule and Takum LGAs of Taraba State as well as Logo LGA of Benue State.
Details are as follows:
a. Violent Extremists Activities.
(1) On 4 and 7 November 2024, troops in separate operations responded to information on activities of violent extremists in Ibbi and Pupule Yorro LGAs of Taraba State as well as Logo LGA of Benue State respectively. During the operations, troops arrested 2 extremists and rescued 3 kidnapped hostages.
(2) On 7 and 9 November 2024, troops in separate operations responded to distress calls on activities of violent extremists/kidnappers in Takum LGA of Taraba State. During the operations, troops arrested 12 extremists and recovered one AK47 rifle, 2 locally made pistols, one revolver pistol, 16 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 12 cartridges, 10 motorcycles and 3 mobile phones amongst others.
SUMMARY
Overall, troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE neutralized 2 terrorists, arrested 20 violent extremists and rescued 8 kidnapped hostages. Troops also recovered one AK47 rifle, 2 locally made pistols, one revolver pistol, 16 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 12 live cartridges, 10 motorcycles and 3 mobile phones amongst others.
JOINT TASK FORCE OPERATION HADARIN DAJI (NORTH WEST)
The troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI recorded the following during the period under review; troops arrested violent extremists/terrorists and conducted offensive operations operations in Gusau, Maru, Tsafe and Bungudu LGAs of Zamfara State as well as Kubau, Igabi, Giwa and Kajuru LGAs of Kaduna State.
Troops also conducted similar offensive operations in Danmusa, Jibia and Batsari LGAs of Katsina State as well as Sabon Birnin and Wurno LGAs of Sokoto State. Additionally, troops conducted operations in Shanga LGA of Kebbi State.
Details are as follows;
a. Offensive Operations.
(1) On 5 and 6 November 2024, troops in separate offensive operations made contact with terrorists in Kubau and Igabi LGAs of Kaduna State. Following a fire fight, troops neutralized 10 terrorists and recovered 5 AK47 rifles, 2 locally fabricated rifle, 4 dane guns, 224 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 189 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammo links, 40 rounds of 9mm ammo, 4 magazines, 4 motorcycles and 2 mobile phones.
(2) Between 8 and 10 November 2024, troops in separate offensive operations made contact with terrorists in Gusau and Tsafe LGAs of Zamfara State as well as Giwa LGA of Kaduna State. Similar operations was also conducted in Jibia and Batsari LGAs of Katsina State. Following a fire fight, troops neutralized 8 terrorists and rescued 3 kidnapped hostages. Troops also recovered 4 AK47 rifles, 2 dane guns, 5 magazines, 259 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 130 rounds of 7.62 x 54mm ammo, 7 motorcycles and 8 mobile phones amongst others.
b. Terrorists Activities.
(1) On 4 and 5 November 2024, troops in separate operations responded to information on terrorists/kidnappers activities in Wurno and Sabon Birnin LGAs of Sokoto State as well as Shanga LGA of Kebbi State respectively. During the operations, troops arrested 2 terrorists and rescued 4 kidnapped hostages.
(2) On 5 and 7 November 2024, troops in separate operations responded to information on activities of terrorists and made contact in Kajuru and Danmusa LGA of Kaduna and Katsina States as well as Sabon Birnin and Bungudu LGAs of Sokoto and Zamfara States.
Following a fire fight, troops neutralized 3 terrorists, arrested 2 and rescued 3 kidnapped hostages. Troops also recovered 2 AK47 rifles, one dane gun, 2 magazines, 71 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, one motorcycle and one mobile phone.
Air Interdiction. The air component of Operation HADARIN DAJI conducted air interdiction on terrorists camps at the northern fringe of Alawa Forest and terrorists logistics base in Shiroro LGA and Birnin Gwari LGAs of Niger and Kaduna States respectively. Battle Damage Assessment revealed that several terrorists were neutralized and their structures as well as logistics destroyed.
Similarly, air interdiction was conducted on newly established terrorists camp around Sangeko as well as notorious terrorist Ado Ailero’s Enclave in Maru and Tsafe LGAs of Zamfara State. Battle Damage Assessment revealed that several terrorists were neutralized and their structures destroyed.
SUMMARY
Overall, troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI neutralized 33 terrorists, arrested 41 persons and rescued 21 kidnapped hostages. Troops also recovered 7 AK47 rifles, 2 fabricated rifles, 5 dane guns, 935 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 189 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 40 rounds of 9mm ammo, 6 magazines, 5 motorcycles and 3 mobile phones amongst others.
JOINT TASK FORCE OPERATION WHIRL PUNCH (NORTH WEST)
The troops of Operation WHIRL PUNCH recorded the following during the week under review; arrested suspected violent extremists/terrorists as well as conducted offensive operations in AMAC and Bwari Area Council of FCT Abuja as well as Kagarko LGA of Kaduna State. Additionally, troops conducted similar operations in Lokoja and Dekina LGAs of Kogi State.
Details are as follows;
a. Offensive Operations. On 7 November 2024, troops while conducting offensive operations intercepted and arrested 4 extremists in Kabba Bunu LGA of Kogi State. Troops also recovered one dane guns, 9 motorcycles, 2 mobile phones and fragmental jacket amongst others.
b. Arrest Operations.
(1) On 5 November 2024, following a tip-off, troops while on patrol intercepted and arrested 27 illegal immigrants from Benin Republic and one Nigerien in AMAC FCT Abuja.
(2) Between 8 and 12 November 2024, troops in separate operations intercepted and apprehended 10 violent extremists including kidnappers in Dekina LGA of Kogi State and Bwari Area Council of FCT Abuja. During the operations, troops recovered one pump action gun, 3 locally made pistols, 17 rounds of 9mm ammo and 4 cartridges amongst others.
SUMMARY
Overall, troops of Operation WHIRL PUNCH arrested 31 violent extremists and recovered one dane gun, one pump action gun, 3 locally made pistols, 17 roumds of 9mm ammo, 4 live cartridges, 9 magazines and 2 mobile phones amongst other items.
JOINT TASK FORCE OPERATION DELTA SAFE (SOUTH SOUTH)
Troops of Operation DELTA SAFE maintained momentum against the activities of crude oil theft. Troops destroyed several illegal refining sites and recovered stolen products.
Troops also arrested violent extremists/kidnappers and conducted offensive operations such as counter/anti kidnapping operations Akoko-Edo and Uhunmwonde LGAs of Edo State as well as Isoko North LGA of Delta State respectively.
a. Troops Destroy Illegal Refining Sites. Troops recovered 942,420 litres of stolen crude oil, 175,075 litres of illegally refined AGO and 4,980 litres of PMS. Additionally, troops discovered and destroyed 13 crude oil cooking ovens, 20 dugout pits, 73 boats, 25 storage tanks and 59 illegal refining sites. Other items recovered include 3 barges, 7 speedboats, 73 drums, one tricycle, 5 pumping machines, 3 mobile phones and 9 vehicles among others.
b. Arrest Operations. On 7 and 11 November 2024, following credible reports, troops in separate operations arrested 7 violent extremists in Aguata and Udu LGAs of Imo and Delta States as well as Oriohwhon LGA of Edo State. Troops also recovered one AK47 rifle, one magazine, 21 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo and one mobile phone amongst others.
SUMMARY
Overall, troops of Operation DELTA SAFE recovered 942,420 litres of stolen crude oil, 175,075 litres of illegally refined AGO and 4,980 litres of PMS. Additionally, troops discovered and destroyed 13 crude oil cooking ovens, 20 dugout pits, 73 boats, 25 storage tanks and 59 illegal refining sites. Other items recovered include 3 barges, 7 speedboats, 73 drums, one tricycle, 5 pumping machines, 3 mobile phones and 9 vehicles among others.
Troops apprehended 40 suspected oil thefts and other violent extremists. Troops also recovered one magazine, 3 assorted arms and 25 assorted ammunition.
JOINT TASK FORCE OPERATION UDO KA (SOUTH EAST)
Troops of Operation UDO KA recorded the following during the week under review; troops conducted offensive operations and arrested IPOB/ESN terrorists and collaborators in Umunneochi and Isuikwuato LGAs of Abia State as well as Isi-Uzo LGA of Enugu State.
Additionally, troops conducted similar operations in Orsu, Nkwerre and Okigwe LGAs of Imo State.
Details as follows:
a. Arrest Operations. On 5 November 2024, following a tip-off, troops in separate operations intercepted and arrested 5 IPOB/ESN terrorists and collaborators in Nsukka and Orlu LGAs of Enugu and Imo States respectively.
Troops also recovered one fabricated gun, 2 locally made pistols, 13 rounds of 9mm ammo and 3 mobile phones.
b. Offensive Operations. On 6 November 2024, while conducting offensive operations made contact with IPOB/ESN terrorists in Nsukka LGA of Enugu State. Following a fire fight, troops neutralized 4 terrorists and recovered one AK47 rifle, one pump action gun, one dane gun, one magazine, 111 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo and 3 mobile phones amongst others.
SUMMARY
Overall, troops of Operation UDO KA neutralized 4 terrorists and arrested 5 violent extremists. Troops recovered one AK47 rifle, one fabricated rifle, 2 locally made pistols, one pump action gun, one dane gun, 111 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 13 rounds of 9mm ammo, one magazine and 6 mobile phones only amongst other items.
Meanwhile, all recovered items, arrested suspects and rescued hostages were handed over to the relevant authority for further action.
