To give hope, comfort and joy to the people of Kaduna State, the Bishops of Kaduna Ecclesiastical Province has donated about 3 million naira to the people of Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State who were affected in various attacks rising from insurgency, violence, killing, kidnapping, raping and displaced last year to alleviate their sufferings.
Out of the three million naira (N3m), five hundred thousand (N500,000) naira was also donated to Fulani Community in Kajuru through its Head in Budha village in person of Ardo of Kajuru, Mallam Musa Aliyu to bring succor to their people after parley with them on how they can join hands with their Christian neighbors for the purpose of ensuring peace and development in the State.
The Bishops comprises, Archbishop of Kaduna, Mathew Man’ Oso Ndagoso as the Lead Bishop, Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Bishop Matthew Kukah, Bishop of Zaria Diocese, Bishop George Dodo, Bishop of Kano Diocese, Bishop John Niyiring and the Administrator of Kafanchan Diocese while Bishop of Minna and Kotangora was represented.
The Catholic Leaders donated N2.5 million to Kajuru people and N500.000 to the Fulani Community respectively, totaling 3 million naira during a facilitating tour of affected communities with a Holy Mass as conclusion of the tour St Augustine kufana Catholic Church kajuru where a mass for peace was held for the country to show the families that the church is with them in prayers and in support.
Speaking while donating the money to the Fulani Community in Budha village, Most Reverend Dr. Matthew Ndagoso said the money is to assist the victims.
According to him, it is the duty of religious leaders to give hope, comfort and joy to the people, adding that government should ensure justice is served, especially by using public resources judiciously for the common good of the people
Responding, the Head of Fulani Community, Ardo Kajuru, Mallam Musa aliyu appreciated the assistance rendered to them, saying it will go a long way in easing the burdens of the affected families.
Earlier, when visited that Place of the Emir of Kajuru, the Emir, Alhassan Adamu thanked the Catholic Bishops for their prayers for peace to be restored in the country, called on them to continue to pray for the peace and unity of the country.
According to him, it is the prayers of the Saints that is holding, sustaining and sparing Nigeria in falling into chaos and anarchy and enjoined all Nigerian not to relent in prayers for the country.
The Bishop of Kano Diocese, Bishop John Niyiring who gave the sermon during the Holy Mass said the aim of the gathering is to pray for the souls of those who lost their lives in the Kajuru Kasuwan Magani crisis and to also pray for peace as a result of the security challenges facing the country.
He was of the opinion that peace and security is impossible however there is the need for people to continue to promote peace especially as entered Christmas season.
