As crises continue to trail APC primeries, the All Progressive Congress (APC) National Organizing Secretary, Alhaji Suleiman Mohammed Arugugu has told Journalists that the APC National Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Adamu decision to make Senator Ahmed Lawan as the APC presidential flagbeare candidate was his personal opinion not a collective decision with the Committee.
Alhaji Suleiman Mohammed Arugugu made the disclosure in an interview with Journalists in Abuja on Monday shortly after their meeting with Senator Abdullahi on the tension of him naming Senator Lawan as President Buhari’s successor in the 2023 general election.
Alhaji Arugugu informed that Senator Abdullahi Adamu decision is not an issue that waa discussed on the floor of the Committee but only told them as an information.
According to him, the members of the NWC are also with the governors on what they have said and some minutes ago the governors on the North have gone to the presidency and have just briefed the president that they are still on what they said with regards to the powership to the south.
“That we fully briefed by our national chairman, distinguished senator Abdullahi Adamu and he did briefed us that the Senate President, Lawan is the consensus candidate for the APC national convention and that’s just for the information he gave us.
“But it’s not an issue that has been discussed on the floor of the NWC and we have just, and just recently about two days ago, the northern Governors meeting had a meeting that the leadership of this country, under the leadership under the All Progressive Congress should go to the north. And equally, the Southern governors also affirmed that.
So we as members of the NWC we are also with the governors on what they have said and some minutes ago the governors on the North have gone to the presidency and have just briefed the president that they are still on what they said with regards to the powership to the south.
You see its just an information he gave us, and its not an issue that have to be deliberated on the floor of the NWC is an information and all of us are entitled to our opinion, we are all democrat and we are can exercise whatever. So, this decision was not taken by the NWC?
This decision was never taken by the NWC, but an information given to the NWC.
It has never been deliberated” he said.
