Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY) have scored a major victory against terrorists in Zamfara State, killing dozens in a precision air and ground offensive that foiled a planned large-scale attack on farming communities.

The operation, carried out on August 10, 2025, targeted the Makakkari axis of Gando Forest in Bukkuyum Local Government Area following credible intelligence that a heavily armed terrorist force, loyal to the late Halilu Buzu and Alhaji Beti had converged to launch a reprisal strike on Adabka and Nasarawan Burkullu.

Military sources said the planned assault was intended to avenge recent battlefield losses inflicted by security forces and hybrid units. Intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance confirmed the gathering, prompting a coordinated response.

NAF strike aircraft pounded the terrorist positions, killing multiple notorious fighters and dismantling their assault formation.

Survivors attempting to flee the bombardment were intercepted by Sector 2 ground troops, who neutralised several more in follow-up engagements.

Captain David Adewusi, the Media Information Officer for OPFY in a press statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Monday assured Nigerians that the operation underscores the military’s resolve to deny armed groups any safe haven in the North West and parts of the North Central zone.

“Terrorists and other armed non-state actors will find no hiding place. Troops will hunt them down wherever they gather or move,” Capt. Adewusi said.

He urged residents to strengthen collaboration with security forces by providing timely intelligence on suspicious movements, stressing that community vigilance remains vital in ending terrorism and banditry.
