The National Association of Kaduna State Students, NAKASS, has divided over an allegation of non-payment of 2016, 2017 and 2018 scholarship allowances to Kaduna State students of tertiary institutions.

It would be recalled that on the 11th of October, 2018, the National Secretary General of the National Association of Kaduna State Students (NAKASS), Comrade Jermaine Gwaza issued 21 days ultimatum to Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai and pass vote of no confidence on his administration over non-payment of scholarships for 50,000 students of tertiary institution for three academic sessions.

They Association also gave a 21 days ultimatum which will ends 1st of November 2018, if Governor El-Rufai refused to meet its demand they will not hesitate to take action , adding that failure to do so, they would without compromise shut down the three zones in the state all over until their needs are met.

They also demanded for the immediate reversal of the new scholarship scheme as it all but a bunch of cake in the middle of nowhere in other words very unrealistic.

Storming, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), for press conference on the 12th of October, 2018 a faction of the same Association disowned the first group that earlier pass a vote of no confidence on Governor Nasir el-Rufai-led government.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Comrade Yahaya Abdullahi who said he is the President of NAKASS, said contrary to the insinuations of the first group, the state government has since the last two months, approved payment of alleged non-payment of scholarship for over 500 students of tertiary Institution.

They totally condemn the so called press release by some imposers with reference to the 21 days ultimatum given to Kaduna State government on local scholarship dated 10th October, 2018, saying the said group do not know the status of the scholarship they referred to.

“The news came to us as a shock, as the said group do not even know the status of the scholarship they referred to. However, as we are speaking to you right now, the State Government has since last two months approved the payment of the local scholarship, the released of the funds and currently the scholarship board is working for the sorting and other processes for the awardees which we hope, in few weeks beneficiaries will receive their alert.

“The leadership of this noble association wish to inform the students and general public that henceforth any formal communication from the association, after further deliberations by the officials will be made through the President (Comr. Yahaya Abdullahi), the Speaker (Comr Emmanuel B. Sheyin), or the President’s Spoke persons. In view of this, we are warning impersonators that henceforth who ever caught using the name of NAKASS in any way will face the wrath of The law.

“Hence, Jeremiah Tisan Gwaza stands suspended indefinitely for bridging the supreme constitution of NAKASS as provided.

“We are of the opinion that all those who for their selfish interest or reasons to use the name of the association in other to make claims that are not of the students interest should avoid that, as the association will not take it lightly with any student or member of the public who impersonate or ridicule the image of the association” Comdr Yahaya Abdullahi said.

The faction who claimed that the state government has since the last two months approved payment of the alleged scholarship fund for over 500 students of tertiary Institution while reading his speech during the press conference however appeal to Kaduna State government and other relevant bodies saddled with the responsibility of the local scholarship should fast tract the payment.
