NAWOJ FCT, NABCEN sensitizes it’s members to curtail spread of Corona Virus in Barbing, beauty saloons

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists ( NAWOJ) FCT Chapter in collaboration with the National Association of Barbers & Cosmetology Employers of Nigeria (NABCEN) have organized a one day sensitization program for its members and the public in a bid to curtail the spread of corona virus in Barbing shops and beauty saloons.

Speaking at the event in Abuja, the Chairperson of NAWOJ FCT, Comrade Stella Okoh Esene who stressed the need for preventive measures against covid 19, explained the need for Nigerian youths to utilize their skills and talents to be employers of labour and reduce unemployment in the country.

Comrade Okoh Esene reiterated the commitment of NAWOJ in partnering with organisations of like minds towards advancing the creative industry.

On his part, the President of NABCEN, Comrade Barile Ngbobu who highlighted some strategies engaged by the organisation to reach out to both members and non members to adhere strictly to the stipulated guidelines against covid 19.

He noted that they had mobilized a task force to reach out to their members to sensitize them and ensure total compliance.

Com. Ngbobu called on the public to take personal responsibility by reaching out to them incase they notice any Barbing shop or saloon that is not adhereing to the measures.

Earlier in his remark, the Chairman of NUJ FCT Council, Comrade Emmanuel Ogbeche expressed hope that the partnership between the formal and informal sectors like NAWOJ and NABCEN would yield effective result towards reducing unemployment and curbing the pandemic of covid-19 in the country.

Com. Ogbeche called on the federal government to consider bail out funds for the informal sector to thrive better in promoting the growth of the economy.

Earlier, Former president of NAWOJ, Mrs Evelyn Onyilo commended the efforts and initiative of both organisations which she said had been neglected in the time past but if properly harnessed would add value to the development of the economy.

Highlights of the event was the display of skills and creativity of NABCEN members in rendering free hair cuts , makeup and nail polish among others
