The newly appointed National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has officially assumed office with a passionate pledge to deepen unity within the party, expand its membership base, and promote transparency through the use of technology.

Speaking to journalists at the APC National Headquarters Media Center shortly after his inuguration, Prof. Yilwatda expressed deep gratitude to the party’s leadership and loyal supporters for entrusting him with what he described as both an “honor” and a “heavy burden.”

“I count it a rare privilege and a burden of trust. But I know I am not alone—I have veterans, friends, and partners within the National Working Committee. Together, we will build a stronger party,” he said.

The National Chairman acknowledged the outgone Acting Chairman, members of the National Working Committee (NWC), the National Assembly, APC governors, and other party stakeholders for their continued support and commitment.

He also highlighted his longstanding working relationships with many within the committee, citing past collaborations during elections, campaigns, and party assignments across Nigeria.

Prof. Yilwatda outlined his vision for the party, which includes increasing membership, strengthening internal systems, and leveraging technology to enhance transparency and inclusivity.

“This party must be transparent and trusted by Nigerians both at home and in the diaspora. We’ll ensure every member feels a part of it and that the APC remains a vibrant vehicle for national development,” he said.

“Using a metaphor to describe his leadership approach, he added: “We, the NWC members, are the mechanics. The party is the vehicle. We will fix it, drive it, and ensure it reaches the destination of our collective dreams” he narrated.

Yilwatda emphasized that the APC remains open to new members and committed to expanding its influence across all tiers of government.

“Our doors are wide open. We look forward to welcoming more governors, senators, National Assembly members, and grassroots leaders. This is a party for everyone,” he declared.

The APC National Chairman encouraged unity and collective action among party members, stressing that national progress would be achieved only through cooperation and dedication to shared goals.

Yilwatda also took time to commend the APC press members for their role in shaping public perception of the APC and the Nigerian government.

He urged media professionals to continue promoting truthful, constructive reporting that reflects the country’s progress and fosters national pride.

“I appreciate the press for giving our party the right image. When you report on Nigeria’s economic growth, improved revenue, and sectoral progress, you uplift the nation.

“If we damage the image of our party or nation, it affects all of us. Let’s build together” he said.

Prof. Yilwatda concluded his remarks with a call for unity, optimism, and service, affirming that the APC under his leadership will strive to be “the pride of the nation” and a beacon of democracy and good governance.

“By God’s grace, the future of the APC is bright. Together, it’s a done deal,” Yilwatda ended.
