As Nigeria marks its 65th Independence Anniversary, the Northern Nigeria Minorities Group (NNMG) has called on citizens to draw strength from the nation’s resilience and diversity, while rallying behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership in navigating tough national challenges.
In a statement signed by its convener, Chief Jacob Edi, the group congratulated Nigerians on the historic milestone, describing six and a half decades of survival as a testament to the country’s unbreakable spirit despite recurring trials.
“Over the years, our unity has been tested, yet our resilience and shared hope have sustained us,” the group said, paying tribute to Nigeria’s founding fathers and everyday citizens whose sacrifices, it noted, remain the bedrock of the nation’s endurance.
The NNMG praised President Tinubu’s “boldness in tackling difficult national issues,” insisting that his policies reflect a vision to secure the nation’s long-term stability above political considerations.
As the nation celebrates, the group warned against forces of division, stressing that Nigeria’s diversity must remain a source of strength and a rallying point for progress.
“The dream of our founding fathers can only be realised if Nigerians renew their faith in the project, stand united and work collectively toward a stronger, more prosperous country,” the statement added.
The group concluded by urging Nigerians to embrace unity, peace, and progress as the country enters its 66th year of independence.
