Nigeria Commemorates Namibia’s 35th Independence Day, Reinforcing Ties of Friendship, Solidarity

The Minister of Foreign Affairs (MFA), Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar has extended his warm congratulations to the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of the Republic of Namibia, His Excellency, Peya Mushelenga on the occasion of their Country’s Independence Anniversary.

In a press statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Friday by Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, the MFA Spokesperson affirmed that Nigeria is proud to have played a pivotal role in supporting Namibia’s struggle for liberation, standing in solidarity with the Namibian people during their fight for freedom, justice, and equality.

Nigeria therefore reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the longstanding bonds of friendship and cooperation between our two nations.

It looked forward to deepening collaboration in areas of mutual interest, including trade, education, agriculture, and technology, for the benefit of Nigeria people and the development of the African continent.

The statement maintained that as Namibia marks 35 years of freedom and self-determination, Nigeria joins the global community in celebrating this significant milestone in Namibia’s history.

It also wished the Government and people of Namibia continued peace, prosperity, and progress in the years ahead.

“Namibia’s journey to independence on March 21, 1990, remains a testament to the resilience and unwavering spirit of its people in the face of adversity.

“Since gaining independence, Namibia has made remarkable strides in fostering peace, democracy, and sustainable development.

“The country’s commitment to good governance, economic growth, and regional integration serves as an inspiration to the African continent and beyond” it said.
