The Federal Republic of Nigeria has congratulated Donald Trump on his election victory as the 47th President of the United States of America in steering the affairs of the country.

This was contained in a press statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday by the Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), Ambassador Eche Abu-Obe.

He reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to fostering strong diplomatic relations with the United States under Trump’s administration, saying the victory marks a significant moment in the political landscape of the United States of America.

He assured Trump of Nigeria continued support and cooperation in matters of international peace and security.

The Nigerian government also acknowledge the contributions of the Democratic candidate, Kamala Harris, during her time as Vice President and applaud Kamala Harris for her tireless efforts and dedication to public service during her tenure.

“We extend our appreciation to President Biden for his contributions to both the United States and the international community.

“In a gesture of gratitude, the statement also recognized outgoing President Joe Biden for his leadership and service” Ambassador Abu-Obe noted.

Recall that Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate, is projected to have secured at least the 270 Electoral College votes he needs to return to the White House for a second time after his 2017-2021 term.
