Nigeria has congratulated the Kingdom of Lesotho on its Independence Day, reaffirming a firm commitment to deepening bilateral relations and advancing Africa’s shared vision of peace, prosperity, and regional integration.

In a goodwill message marking the celebration, the Nigeria Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs (MFA), Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, extended heartfelt felicitations to His Excellency Lejone Mpotjoane, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations of Lesotho, on behalf of the Government and people of Nigeria.

Ambassador Tuggar praised Lesotho’s resilience and steady march toward democratic consolidation, social progress, and cultural preservation since gaining independence.

He described the milestone as “a symbol of the Basotho people’s unity, determination, and unwavering spirit.”

Nigeria MFA Minister noted that relations between Nigeria and Lesotho are built on mutual respect, African solidarity, and a common pursuit of continental growth.

Both nations, he said, continue to collaborate through regional and multilateral platforms such as the African Union (AU) and the United Nations, championing peace, development, and integration across Africa.

“Nigeria remains committed to expanding cooperation with Lesotho in strategic areas including education, trade, good governance, and regional integration,” Tuggar affirmed.

He emphasized that the enduring friendship between both nations would continue to serve as a model of African unity and a catalyst for stability and sustainable development on the continent.
