As the former Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole declared his intention to run for the seat of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) vowed to  appropriately tax the rich to provide amenities for the poor.

Comrade Oshiomhole who made the vow while addressing his supporters  and Nigerians on Wednesday in Abuja, said it is in the interest of the rich to pay the tax so they can enjoy their wealth.

Comrade Oshiomhole, who is also the former APC National Chairman, said if elected as President, he would insist that textile and automobile companies who want to continued patronage of Nigerians must relocate their factories to Nigeria to give jobs to the teeming youths of the country.

He was of the opinion that if Nigeria can subsidise petroleum products to the tune of trillions then she can subsidise education, agriculture among others.

“I have come here this afternoon for one purpose to formally declare that I, Adams Oshiomhole, hereby declare with confidence my desire to contest for the office of the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on the platform of a party that we co-founded, All Progressives Congress (APC),” he said.

“I think the challenges we face today are very clear to me. Having being president of the Nigeria Labour Congress for eight years through a democratic process and I had the opportunity to speak truth to power and to engage power.

“I believe many of you who are of my age or 40 years and a little less than that will have memories of those days, we spoke truth to power about policies whether they were economic policies, social policies, healthcare policies among others.”

Comrade Oshiomhole therefore informed that he would purchase the All Progressives Congress (APC) nomination and expression of interest forms in the next few hours.
