Nigeria made a forceful appearance on the world’s biggest aerospace platform on Monday as Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, led the country’s delegation to the opening of the Dubai Airshow 2025, signalling Abuja’s intent to deepen its footprint in global defence innovation and partnerships.
The high-stakes event, inaugurated by the Emir of Dubai and UAE Vice-President, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, drew industry giants, military chiefs, and political leaders from across the world.
The Nigerian delegation also included Air Vice Marshal AY Abdullahi, representing the Chief of the Air Staff, underscoring the strategic importance attached to the biennial exhibition.
Badaru, moving through the airshow’s sprawling exhibition halls, held discussions and inspected displays from top-tier aerospace manufacturers, positioning Nigeria as a serious player seeking cutting-edge platforms and advanced defence technologies.
The Dubai Airshow widely regarded as one of the most influential gatherings for aerospace, space, and defence serves as a global marketplace for state-of-the-art military systems and a hub for cross-border strategic collaboration.
For Nigeria, the 2025 edition presents an opportunity to signal renewed commitment to modernising its defence capabilities while strengthening international partnerships.
Officials said the delegation is focused on projecting Nigeria’s recent advancements in defence technology and expanding conversations that could shape the country’s future security architecture.
By placing Nigeria squarely in the mix of global defence discourse, Badaru’s presence at the airshow reflects an administration pushing to align national security ambitions with the rapidly evolving international defence ecosystem.
