The Federal Republic of Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to global aviation safety and support to a thorough investigation into the tragic crash of Air India Flight 171 in Ahmedabad, which claimed the lives of over 290 individuals to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
In a press statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Thursday by Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, the Spokesperson,
Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja informed that Nigeria stands in solidarity with India during this difficult time and expresses profound sorrow over the loss of lives.
According to him, the Nigeria High Commission in New Delhi is working closely with Indian authorities to verify reports that no Nigerian citizen was on board the flight and to provide consular assistance if needed.
The Federal Republic of Nigeria commiserates with the families of the bereaved and all those affected by this tragic incident and also extended its deepest condolences to the Government and people of India.
