Nigeria has secured the hosting rights for Africa’s largest defence and security exhibition following a landmark agreement between the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) and dmg Events, a UK-based global exhibitions company.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed during the ongoing African Chiefs of Defence Staff Summit 2025 at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja, will see both parties co-host the maiden edition of the Africa Defence Exhibition (AFRIDEX) 2026 in Lagos from October 26 to 29, 2026.

The Director General of DICON, Major General B.I. Alaya, signed on behalf of Nigeria, while dmg Events was represented by its executive, Nick Ornstien.

The ceremony was witnessed by Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, General C.G. Musa, OFR, alongside African defence chiefs, attachés, and other high-level dignitaries.

AFRIDEX 2026 is expected to draw global attention as the premier defence and security platform on the continent, showcasing state-of-the-art technologies ranging from armoured vehicles and naval vessels to drones, aircraft, and advanced weaponry.

According to organisers, the exhibition will not only highlight innovative solutions but also foster strategic partnerships, technology transfer, and collaboration among African and international defence industries.

It is also projected to boost Nigeria’s defence reputation, enhance regional security, and contribute to economic growth through industrial participation.

Described as a game-changer for Africa’s defence sector, AFRIDEX 2026 will bring together military leaders, policymakers, and defence manufacturers worldwide to shape the future of security on the continent.

“This exhibition will be Africa’s biggest platform for defence cooperation and innovation, positioning Nigeria at the centre of continental and global security discourse,” DICON said in a statement.
