The Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) has informed that the military neutralized 152 terrorists, arrested 109 suspects, and rescued 91 kidnapped hostages.
The troops also rescued cache of arms and other items includingN332,700 cash, destruction of illegal refining sites and recovered stolen products in the South South region.
According to Director Defence Media Operations (DDMO), Major General Edward Buba in a press statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Friday the significant achievements recorded during the ongoing operations against terrorists, insurgents, and violent extremists across the country.
In the North East, the DDMO said, Operation HADIN KAI troops achieved notable successes, including the surrender of Boko Haram/ISWAP/JAS terrorists, ambush operations, and the discovery of UXOs.
“The troops also conducted arrest and offensive operations, neutralizing 63 terrorists, arresting 38 suspects, and rescuing 35 kidnapped hostages.
“Troops also recovered cache of arms and other items including the sum of N332,700.00 only.
Similarly, Operation SAFE HAVEN troops in the North Central region conducted offensive and counter/anti-kidnapping operations, arresting 18 violent extremists and rescuing 14 kidnapped hostages.
“Operation WHIRL STROKE troops also achieved successes in the same region, neutralizing three terrorists, arresting 22 violent extremists, and rescuing 14 kidnapped hostages.
In the North West, Operation HADARIN DAJI troops conducted ambush operations, fighting patrols, and counter/anti-kidnapping operations, neutralizing 105 terrorists, arresting 21 suspects, and rescuing 36 kidnapped hostages.
“Operation WHIRL PUNCH troops also recorded successes, neutralizing 16 terrorists, arresting nine suspects, and rescuing two kidnapped hostages.
“During the week, troops carried out surgical operations against two prominent terrorist commanders and decimated their strongholds. Namely Sadiku enclave in Tsora Hill in Safana LGA of Katsina State and Alhaji Yusuf enclave at Yadi forest in Giwa LGA of Kaduna State.” General Buba stated.
He further said, troops of Operation DELTA SAFE in the South South region destroyed several illegal refining sites, recovered stolen products, and arrested suspected vandals and criminals. The troops recovered 725,920 litres of stolen crude oil and 475,250 litres of illegally refined AGO.
Lastly, Operation UDO KA troops in the South East region conducted counter/anti-kidnapping operations, arresting two criminals and rescuing two kidnapped hostages.
General Buba noted that “the war against terrorists, insurgents, violent extremists and others perpetrating insecurity in the country wages and troops are sustaining the momentum to achieve victory. Indeed , the armed forces is steadily progressing towards the goal of total destruction of all these elements.”
These achievements demonstrate the Nigerian Military’s commitment to ensuring security and stability across the country. The operations are ongoing, and the troops remain determined to root out insurgency, banditry, and oil theft.
The Defence Media Operations commended the gallant men and women of the armed forces for their sacrifices and urged citizens to continue supporting the troops to win the war against insecurity.
