Nigerian Navy seeks better pact with NSCDC for effective results

The Anambra State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Command, Comdt. Everestus C. Obiyo has assured the Nigerian Navy of robust support to strengthen existing working relationship in the State.

Comdt. Obiyo gave the assurance when he received in audience the Newly appointed Commanding Officer Naval Outpost Onitsha (NOPO), Captain Godfrey Bibowei Osuobeni at the State Command Headquarters Awka on Wednesday 23rd of February, 2022.

The State Commandant who appreciated the Commanding Officer for the visit said the need for such interaction with sister security agencies cannot be over emphasized.

Comdt. Obiyo acknowledged the fact that cooperation between security agencies is key in gaining trust and confidence of the public.

He reaffirmed that the NSCDC is a significant force to reckon with in the protection of governments Critical National Assets and Infrastructure and in the protection of lives and property, amongst other functions.

The State Commandant thereafter enjoined the Naval Commander to support the Corps in its fight against illegal oil bunkering, illegal dealings on petroleum products and illegal transportation of adulterated petroluem products.

He admonished the Commander to hand over to NSCDC suspected illegal oil theives/ vandals if apprehended for further investigation and Prosecution.

Earlier, the Naval Commanding Officer, Capt. Osuobeni expressed profound gratitude for the warm reception accorded him.

He stressed that the need for all Security agencies in the State to be united and focused; commending the State Commandant of his open -door policy and willingness to assist the Command when the need arises.

The visit ended with both Commanding officers agreeing to work in tandem in order to ensure that the already existing relationship is strengthened for effective results.
