Nigeria’s Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Ambassador Gabriel Tanimu Aduda, has called for strengthened defence collaboration between the UK and Nigeria.

He made the appeal during a high-level meeting at the British Parliament’s House of Lords with Lord Jonathan Marland, Chairman of the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council.

They discussed opportunities for enhancing bilateral cooperation, particularly in defence, security, and industrial development, with a focus on restructuring the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria.

Aduda emphasized the need for a clear separation of regulatory and commercial functions to attract investment.

Lord Marland in his response welcomed the initiative and reaffirmed the UK’s commitment to supporting Nigeria’s defence industry modernization.

Both parties agreed to establish a follow-up framework for long-term cooperation.
