The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Bishop Prof. Stephen Adegbite, has declared that Nigeria’s ultimate hope rests in God, urging citizens to rise above fear, division, and despair in the face of national challenges.

Speaking on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, during a Conference of States meeting with Chairmen and Executive Secretaries of State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Boards including the FCT at the NCPC Headquarters in Abuja, Bishop Adegbite said Nigeria’s destiny remains secure as long as its people stay united in faith and purpose.

“We know the challenges before us, but we must stand together as one. Nigeria will overcome as long as we remain united and prayerful. Our strength lies in our collective faith,” he declared.

Acknowledging the nation’s present economic and security difficulties, Bishop Adegbite stressed that no adversity can destroy a nation anchored in divine purpose, even as he denounced attempts by extremists to provoke religious violence.

“Nigeria will not support any form of genocide. We condemn any group seeking to divide us along religious lines. The government is on the right track, and with God on our side, this country will prevail,” he affirmed.

The NCPC boss called on all stakeholders to support government efforts towards national renewal, peace, and unity, urging collaboration rather than criticism.

Turning to the Commission’s activities, Bishop Adegbite praised the 2025 Easter Pilgrimage as a “remarkable testament to Nigeria’s spiritual resilience and divine favor,” despite recent tensions in Israel.

He announced that several states including Imo, Plateau, Adamawa, Bauchi, and Delta will be honored for their outstanding commitment to the pilgrimage initiative.

“The success of the last pilgrimage shows that faith remains our strongest currency. A tree cannot make a forest together, we will lift our nation in prayer and in action until Nigeria takes her rightful place among the comity of nations,” he said.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Conference of States, Bishop David Moradeyo, lauded Bishop Adegbite’s leadership, describing it as “visionary and courageous” in navigating both domestic and global challenges.

Bishop Moradeyo also congratulated him on his recent appointment as Chaplain of the State House Chapel, Abuja, and urged him to extend his outreach to states struggling to fund pilgrimages in order to encourage governors’ participation.

The meeting reaffirmed NCPC’s commitment to strengthening faith diplomacy, fostering inter-religious harmony, and promoting Nigeria’s global image through sustained spiritual engagement and responsible leadership.
