The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has cautioned Nigerians against using unauthorised websites to modify their National Identification Number (NIN) data.
In a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Monday, the Head of Corporate Communications, Dr. Kayode Adegoke, explained that only the official NIMC Self-Service Modification Portal (selfservicemodification.nimc.gov.ng) should be used for NIN modifications.
He said using unverified platforms could compromise personal information, leading to potential security risks.
Dr. Adegoke assured Nigerians that the official portal is secure, protecting users from identity theft and data breaches.
The NIMC highlighted the convenience of the new Self-Service Modification Portal, which allows citizens to update their details from anywhere at any time, ensuring a more efficient and secure process.
The Commission urged Nigerians to always verify sources before submitting their personal data online.
